Meridian Elementary has an incredible music teacher. She does choir after school and Kaylee has loved EVERY minute of it. Here is a sneak peak from last night.

Piano Recital
Jackson got a free pass this year because he had baseball every Tuesday in April. Mom wasn't too happy but Jackson was thrilled. Chase was excited because he got to start piano early. He was supposed to start this summer. He wanted to play in the recital so Renae let him. He had only 3 lessons but did a good job. Good thing Renae played the duet so that he sounded REALLY good.
We only got half of Kaylee's performance because she skipped the girl ahead of her. I guess she was excited to play her song. Both kids did a great job and we loved watching them play so well in front of an audience, which is the hard part. Jackson's job was to video it.
TALL TALES
Kaylee had an assignment to write a TALL TALE about someone in her family. Basically, she takes real facts and overexaggerates them. The story is actually pretty funny but Jason and I were a little surprised over one part of the story. You can read the story or just skim. I will bold the part that surprised us. To Scott -- The way I wrote your name in the paper is how Kaylee spelled it. Here it goes --
The Strange Jason
One day a baby was born in Utah. The parents were happy but curious. You see, Jason, that was the baby's name, was born with a mask on his head. When his dad, Brent, took the mask off, his mom, Pauline, screamed. Jason's face was pink and blue. Soon Jason had four more brothers. Their names were Schott, Nate, Ryan and Devin. When they were old enough to speak their first words were, "Ugly Jason." Pretty soon Jason started wearing masks again because he didn't like being made fun of. It worked. In 1991, Jason took a vacation to Brazil for two years. While he was there, he got made fun of by goats because of wearing masks, so he wrestled any goat that came his way. Pretty soon his hobby was wrestling goats. When he came home from Brazil, he was 22, it was freezing cold. So he decided to learn how to ski. Jason loved skiing. After a few years of skiing and watching television, Jason got married to a young lady named Teri Gardner. One day they had a son named Jackson. Hey decided to take him to Hawaii. So they did. Aloha. Jason loved Hawaii and so did Jackson. AFTER THAT THEY HAD A LITTLE ALONE TIME, TERI HAD THREE MORE BABIES; TWO GIRLS AND ONE BOY. Their names were Kaylee, Chase and Kaci. That was all of Jason's adventures.
Grandma and Grandpa Gardner
Grandma and Grandpa came out to visit us. Little did they know that they would be attending Jackson's TWO baseball games, driving Jackson to practice that was at the EXACT time as piano (thank goodness they were here to help), going to Chase's soccer game, driving Kaylee and Chase to piano, and going to Kaylees school night. They were good sports but grateful to get home where they could actually rest.
Here is Kaylee at her "Night of the Notables. The 3rd graders pick a person who has done notable things. People ranged from Tiger Woods to JK Rowling to George Washington. Kaylee was Beverly Cleary. They do a research project, write a report and then dress up like the character. Then everyone asks the kids questions, trying to guess who they were. Gma and Gpa were good sports and really tried to find out who all the kids were dressed up as.

What was I thinking!!
This post is for Jason. I figure he will gladly tell the story to anyone who wants a laugh so I might as well tell you about it. I was paying bills and not knowing I paid Gap $5393 instead of $53.93. Luckily, Jason caught it. It had already been processed but not credited to Gap. We were able to stop the payment (after calls to the bank and Gap) and pay the right amount. I've been known to have high Gap bills but $5393 -- I think our credit limit is $1000. Could you imagine if it had just shown up on our bank statement? We would have been bouncing more than a few checks. So to Jason who has to deal with an idiotic wife, sorry. Make sure you double check the bill pay section on the online account so that I don't do that again. You can bet that I will be making sure those decimals are in the right spot from now on!!
P.S. This is why Jason checks the kids math homework, not me!
